Baldwin 42-1/2” Acrosonic Console Piano.

  Considered to be a hybrid between a console and a studio upright, but because of its styling and slightly smaller size, it is usually referred to as a console. However, it has a full-sized piano-action just like the one in a 45-inch-tall studio upright piano. The keys are lowered at the back to allow the full-sized action to fit in an instrument of its size. This design is called the Baldwin Exclusive Full-Blow Action. Additional length in the levers is a much better physics and leverage situation allowing the Baldwin model 2085 console piano to play with the same wide dynamic range and expression as the 45-inch studio upright size model. It is easier to service too, due to the larger individual parts and longer levers and that saves time and money. So, this model has the beauty of a designer console with the performance of a plain-looking studio upright.

Built in the United States, this piano has been in Albuquerque all of its life so it is happily acclimated and well-adjusted to our unique climate. It was purchased at the longtime Baldwin dealer, King Music located right up the street from here. It is in excellent structural and aesthetic condition and it ought to provide decades of musical enjoyment and enrichment. There is minimal wear throughout the moving parts of the action and trap work. Other than the usual tuning, minor regulations and cleaning, very little had to be done for this piano in our 88 Keys piano restoration shop. We will be happy to warrant it for two years. Its Mediterranean furniture styling is warm, full of character and utterly timeless. The piano’s lightly-colored oak finish is bright and vibrant. It’s a good fit for a space with windows and natural light. It’s wide-grained hardwood oak texture is rustic, yet opulent and has an indoor-outdoor Moroccan feel. The elaborately carved music rack and the eight-sided legs on the piano and bench complete the style. The music desk is sturdy enough for heavy music books and a wide sheet music lip allows room for longer musical scores.
