PianoDisc CD Player-piano System

PianoDisc CD Player-piano System

Performed by Samick model SIG-47DPD Grand Piano.

Enjoy live, acoustic piano music in your home whenever you want without hiring a pianist. Listen to romantic standards over dinner music, lively jazz while doing housework or Mozart and Beethoven while working in your office. It’s great for entertaining, too. Play catchy pop music from your favorite musicians or ragtime and show tunes from musicals, or make it a theme like a birthday, Halloween or Christmas party. CD’s through the PianoDisc company are available in nearly every genre and composer (PianoDisc – The Future of Player Pianos ). It is truly a genuine acoustical performance. The keys move up and down, the hammers strike the strings, the dampers rise and fall to dampen the strings and the soundboard amplifies and vibrates to create the sound waves our ears enjoy so much. It is a vastly different experience than music through a stereo’s smaller speakers, compared to the large soundboard that dominates the footprint of the piano.

This striking Samick model SIG-47DPD 4’-7” baby grand piano is in excellent condition and has a minimal amount of wear in the piano-action and other moving parts. The piano was the graceful focal point in a formal living room surrounded by fine art, statuary, sculpture and exquisite furnishings. It’s primary function was to perform live acoustic piano music during parties and gatherings. This occurred occasionally at most. The previous owners have moved and sadly, they could not bring the piano with them. As a result, the piano is in excellent condition – structurally and aesthetically. We are happy to offer a two-year warranty. It has a lovely mellow tone-quality – European inspired. The premium music wire is manufactured by Roslau, a venerable German company whose strings are found in the finest pianos in the world. The piano-action has barely been broken in so we performed a regulation in our 88 Keys Piano Restoration shop and multiple tunings to stabilize, and it is ready to entertain you. The original bench with storage is included and so is professional local, first-story delivery.

Accompany the piano with other instruments like your guitar or flute, for instance. Or acquire song files that are designed to accompany you as you play your jazzy sax, classical French horn or even your own vocals like a sing-along. Work on your singing voice! It will even transpose the key for you. This is a MIDI compatible instrument so you will be able to interface with other MIDI components like for instance, a computer. With a little technical savvy you can download free quality MIDI files from numerous websites that specialize in them to augment the PianoDisc library of song files. Classical Archives is one, with thousands of classical music pieces available. Other sites offer a wide variety of other musical genres. The MIDI ports are located on the back of the control box. You could also upgrade to the current wireless version and eliminate the need for the CD Drive. Another upgrade would be a Record Strip so you could make your own recordings and work with sequencing software like Garage Band or Cakewalk.

Hamilton Model H396 Grand Piano by Baldwin

Hamilton Model H396 Grand Piano by Baldwin

Hamilton 4’-10” Baby Grand Piano.

Dwight Hamilton Baldwin founded the D. H. Baldwin Piano Company in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1862, a perilous time in American history with the Civil War raging. Mr. Baldwin was a piano and organ dealer, and he originally used his middle name on a line of organs he began building around 1888. Some sources say he was a Presbyterian minister in addition to being a piano teacher. Hamilton piano models came out in the early 1890’s and eventually included grands, uprights and the Hamilton Manualo player-piano. The Hamilton studio upright “School piano” was their most popular and well-known model because they were popular in institutional venues like music departments in schools, conservatories of music, teaching studios, houses of worship, entertainment venues and serious pianists needing a rugged rehearsal instrument. They were found anywhere pianos were meant to experience harsh and constant use. Their full upright pianos of 56 to 59-inches height were popular around the turn of the century (1900) and they were adorned in elaborate furniture and cabinetry styles featuring wood carvings and embellishments. Our shop has seen many of them over the years and it’s quite impressive when they are still viable as one-hundred and twenty year-old musical instruments and still holding tune.

Lid closed for quieter practice and a handsome way to display your piano.

This piano was originally purchased as a beautiful décor piece with no intention of ever playing it. A formal room isn’t complete without eighty-eight black and white piano keys. So it was the elegant focal point of its room surrounded by fine art, sculpture and other furnishings. As a result, the piano is in flawless condition with a minimum of wear. The piano-action hasn’t even been broken in yet, so you can do it! The tone is mellow and it has a nice sustain even though it’s a smaller piano. The robust bass response is a little surprising given its size. It has a pretty treble, bell-like and clear. The tone certainly wouldn’t fill a concert hall but it has a pretty tone with a nice dynamic range. It’s fun to play!

After the Baldwin Piano Co. bankruptcy in 2001 Gibson Guitars acquired the company’s remaining assets through the bankruptcy court with the stated intention of restoring the Baldwin Piano Company to its former glory. Gibson is a multi-national company and has factories all over the globe for the numerous products they offer. They are especially respected for the design and quality of their guitars that many of the world’s finest guitarists play. Gibson acquired an existing piano factory in Guangdong Province, China and expanded it, then renamed it Baldwin Zhongshan Piano Instrument Company in order to build Baldwin, Hamilton and J. C. Fisher pianos. That is where this piano was built in 2005.

Baldwin – America’s Favorite Piano.

Acrosonic Spinet Piano by Baldwin

Acrosonic Spinet Piano by Baldwin

Baldwin’s Acrosonic – the most popular piano model in history.

This is the quintessential “good used piano” and it would be an excellent choice for the beginning piano student or casual player. It was built in 1957 though in piano years it is much younger, having been played sparingly. There is minimal wear for its age on the hammers and damper felts plus the other moving action parts. All of the tuning pins are tight so it will hold its tune. Loose tuning pins are a common problem in our dry and arid climate, and they are costly and aggravating. It spent two weeks in our 88 Keys restoration shop and received the normal tuning and pitch-raises, minor action regulations and thorough cleaning of the interior. There is a music desk with a long sheet music lip so heavy books or long music charts can be accommodated. We are happy to offer a two-year warranty. It qualifies for a full trade-in too, for when you decide to move up to a better piano. The original, matching bench with music storage is included. Local, first-story professional delivery is included and so is one in-home tuning.

Ideal budget or starter piano.

Baldwins have long been favorites of piano teachers and have a well-earned reputation for being sturdy, well-built, maintenance-free instruments and the Acrosonic spinet from the Baldwin Piano Company is by far, the best of its kind. Many people like the low-profile appearance of the spinet, but other manufacturers offer poorly built models only to achieve a low price point. Baldwin defines the American sound. Its famous scale design makes for a clear, pretty tenor and treble with a nice sustain. The bass section is surprisingly gutsy and resonant for the piano’s 36-inch height. Of note, the string length and soundboard area is equal to or exceeds many 40-inch models of other brands. To accomplish this, the casters are recessed into the piano’s bottom so the interior extends nearly all the way to the floor where the strings and soundboard terminate. One can’t even get a toe under this model due to its ½-inch floor clearance.

The touch is expressive and has a nice feel, unlike nearly every other spinet ever built. Historically, most spinet piano-actions have used substandard plastic parts that eventually break and need replacing – all 88 of them! Baldwin has always built their Acrosonic piano-actions with traditional hardwood components like maple or hornbeam, and well-engineered designs. This instrument was built for the home and the family. Many are passed down from generation to generation.

Sturdy music desk for large books with a sheet music lip for long musical scores.

The unique design of its spinet piano made the Baldwin and Acrosonic range of models the most popular in American piano building history. Akros, a Greek word meaning “extreme, summit or topmost” became Acro, also meaning “Expanded”, in a way. The Acropolis is a citadel at the summit or highest point of Athens, Greece. Sonic derives from Sonus in Greek and denotes “Sound”. Therefore, the model’s name, Acrosonic refers to the “Expanded sound” of this smaller piano. The name was patented and is registered in the US Patent Office.

Janssen Modern Console Piano

Janssen Modern Console Piano

Excellent starter piano or Modern furniture design piece.

The “Modern” furniture style of this Janssen console piano is rooted in the mid-century era and is often referred to as “Mid-century Modern Furniture”. The piano was built in 1958, and by current attitudes it definitely has a retro vibe. The “Modernism Movement” heavily influenced this design. The style is characterized by clean lines and minimalism, born out by this piano’s severe unadorned rectangular-shaped sides and strongly geometrical front panels. It’s neutral and simple flat black lacquer finish is sleek and exudes timeless elegance. There is also a focus on diverse materials and a mix of materials in this style. The piano has solid brass legs and supports, free of any unnecessary embellishments and the bench legs have brass ferrules. The music rack has an inlaid brass mesh pattern. The Modern style also has an aspect of practicality and functionality in mind. This piano’s functional component is an electric lamp mounted below the music rack to illuminate the book or sheet music the pianist is performing. Otherwise, a separate music lamp would need to be added and how would that be practical? Enjoy the sleek aesthetics of modern design in this musical instrument!

Compact apartment piano.

A good used piano”. That is an apt description of this instrument. It would be ideal for a beginner’s first, inexpensive piano as they embark on the exciting journey of learning music. We will be happy to take it back on trade for a full reimbursement toward a better piano later when the pianists skills evolve, and they have grown out of it. It also has the benefit of its compact size. This piano was built in 1958 though in piano-years it is much younger, having been played sparingly. It has been more of a piece of décor than a working piano. It has lived in Albuquerque for decades, so it is happily acclimated to our unique climate and won’t have any service issues. There is minimal wear on the hammers and damper felts plus the other moving action parts, for its age. The structural integrity is excellent, including the soundboard and bridges. All of the tuning pins are tight. It spent a week in our restoration shop and received the normal tuning, minor action regulations and thorough cleaning of the interior. We are happy to offer a two-year warranty. The original matching bench is included. Complimentary local, first-story professional delivery is also included.

Yamaha model P2 Studio Upright Piano

Yamaha model P2 Studio Upright Piano

Ideal for a working piano studio.

The no frills model P2 at the time was a part of the Yamaha Classic Collection. The P-series has historically been one of Yamaha’s most popular vertical piano line and has had huge financial success. Living space is at a premium in Japan and Europe so fewer grands are sold, making a strong case for a high-quality upright like this. Yamaha also has factories situated in China and Indonesia where their lesser quality lines of pianos are built. Lower labor costs there enable more economical price points. Designed for the experienced pianist and professional musician, the Yamaha model P2 Studio piano was built in the main factory in Hamamatsu, Japan and offers outstanding musical performance, setting the standards by which many other upright pianos are measured. A perennial favorite among discerning pianists, they feature outstanding tone, touch and durability.

As always, this piano is sourced locally, per our company policy. It has lived here in Albuquerque for at least the past twenty years so it is happily acclimated to our unique desert Southwest climate. Though this Yamaha model P2 Studio piano was manufactured in 1965, it was played very little so the moving parts in the action have minimal wear. It has recently been serviced by competent and knowledgeable technicians. It is in excellent condition – structurally and aesthetically, and should offer you decades of musical fulfillment.

Yamaha has had a well-deserved reputation for superior quality control and virtually perfect preparation at the factory. They arrive at the dealership in flawless condition. Technicians are enthusiastic about servicing them due to their exceptional engineering and design. Many highly respected musicians are Yamaha Artists and endorse these pianos. Elton John comes to mind. Many schools of music have become All-Yamaha Schools as a means to attract students desiring quality musical instruments during their studies and practice. Institutions especially like the low-maintenance character of these pianos because they are averse to recurring budget costs for tuning and service. You will find their products nearly everywhere else too: homes, churches, on stage, in the recording studio, and the like.

Yamaha model P2 Studio Upright Piano 2 Plate at 88 Keys Piano Warehouse

Excellent condition – inside and out.

It has the classic Yamaha “feel”; the accuracy and responsiveness that permits vivid musical expression and a wide dynamic range. The tone is rich and colorful. Being a 45” vertical, the bass is strong and robust. We had only to do our usual dealer prep in our restoration shop and nothing more. That means pitch correction, voicing, tightening action screws, minor action regulation, cleaning inside, etc. It has the classic Yamaha evenness of touch; fast, accurate and responsive with an excellent repetition. The tone is also classic Yamaha. It is harmonic-rich and sonorous with an excellent dynamic range, meaning the pianist can perform the subtlest pianissimos and most forceful fortissimos. The finish is classic satin ebony. Complimentary local, first-floor professional delivery is included. The original matching bench has music storage.

Steinbach model MP-122 Studio Upright Piano

Steinbach model MP-122 Studio Upright Piano

48-inch Professional Upright Piano in Polished Mahogany.

A surprisingly good tone quality for a piano with very little name recognition. We were a little shocked when we first played it. The bass response is robust and clear. The tenor is warm and rich. The treble sings with a bell-like quality and substantial tone. The tone quality (timbre) is center-mellow. The sustain or duration of tone is lengthy and not percussive. The dynamic range is wide permitting quieter pianissimos and louder fortissimos allowing the pianist to play more expressively and emotively. This Steinbach model MP-122 studio upright is known as a “Stencil piano”. It was built by the Pearl River piano company but it’s unclear who the distributor is that ordered the Steinbach piano product line.

Excellent condition – structurally and aesthetically.

This beautiful instrument was barely played by the previous owners who considered it to be the elegant focal point of their formal living room. For that reason, there is minimal wear in the piano-action, trapwork and other moving parts. It is in excellent condition, structurally and aesthetically. It should provide many more decades of musical enjoyment. We will be happy to offer a two-year warranty. It came to us needing very little in the way of piano dealer prep in our 88 Keys Piano restoration shop. We cleaned it thoroughly, regulated and tightened the piano-action and tuned with only a slight pitch correction.

Pearl River today, is the largest and best-selling piano manufacturer in the world and they have the largest market share in retail sales worldwide. They produce 150,000 pianos annually and are sold in 112 countries. Pearl River dominates the Chinese market share with 40% of all the new pianos purchased. The modern 3.2 million square foot factory is located in Guangzhou, China and employs over 4000 workers. Every single large, small or tiny individual, cataloged part has to be handled by human hands. With over 8500 individual parts in an upright piano, a factory location with lower labor rates is an advantage and provides a better value.
