Schiedmayer 46″ studio piano in walnut high polish.
Manufactured in Stuttgart sometime in the mid 1980’s, this is a piece of Cold War history. On the the keyslip is a little label that says “made in West Germany” which indicates that it definitely predates the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The action is Renner, and the sound is clean, European. A US Army officer stationed in Berlin at the time acquired this piano, and it was shipped stateside after the tour of duty ended. This is the first Schiedmayer brand of piano I have encountered, I must admit. It’s a cool piece.
